New Way of Selecting the Type of Automation to Build

Starting from Summer '24, finding the type of flow or orchestration you want to build will be much easier. More specifically, instead of scrolling through all types and templates in one window, you will be prompted to select how you’d like to start building your automation. Based on your selection, the next window will show only relevant information, for example if you select the option to use a template, it will only list templates

How: From the Flows section in Setup, click New Flow, or from the Automation Lightning app, click New. In the New Flow window that will open select the type of automation you want to build and click Next. There are two type of automations:

Start From Scratch, select this option if you want to start building your automation on an empty canvas. Available types are flows and orchestrations

Use a Template, select this option if you want to select a pre-built flow that you can then customize according to your needs

View Elements by Label in the Flow Builder Toolbox

Flow elements will be listed in the Flow Builder toolbox by their label instead of by their API name. Hovering over the tooltip next to the element will show the API name. Searching for an element will be possible by its label or by its API name

How: Find the element in the Toolbox of the Flow Builder canvas. Hovering over the element's tooltip icon will show the element’s description, API name, and label

Auto-Generated Element Names in Flow Elements

The labels for all elements except screens are generated and selected automatically when they are added in the flow. Especially for Decision and Wait elements, the paths are also named automatically

Flow Elements Enhanced Resource Management

With this update, resource selection is enhanced with displaying resources by their labels, along with tooltip icons that provide more details for the resource such as data type and description for the following elements:

Collection Filter

Collection Sort

Decision Loop

Subflows

Recommendation Assignment

Orchestration Stages

Steps elements

Actions that don’t have custom property editors

How: Access a resource field while editing an element of a flow to display automatic outputs and variables grouped and with user-friendly labels

Action and Subflow Panel Enhanced

New flow builder Action and Subflow panels will now used instead of the existing Action and Subflow window for browsing, selecting, and configuring invocable actions and creating HTTP Callout actions. Search bar at the top on both panels will allow browsing by Category and/or Custom Action Type
