Provide a Better Screen Flow Experience with Action Buttons (Generally Available)

Action Button component, that was first released as Beta version in the previous release (link here ) is now generally available and includes the following new improvements:

Screen flow users see an indicator in the action button to let them know that the screen action is running

If you update the input and output variables of the action’s autolaunched flow, you can refresh your action’s inputs and outputs without refreshing the browser and the flow

With the new In Progress screen action output, you can reference the in progress status of the screen action launched by the action button somewhere else in the flow. For example, you can disable another screen component on the same screen if the screen action is in progress

If the autolaunched flow that launches from the action button is running in system context, you’re notified so that you can take appropriate steps to secure your data

You can disable the action button based on criteria that you set using a resource with a Boolean value

Collect User Input to Modify a List of Records from a Screen

Repeater component can now be used to update existing record collections and not just create new records.

How: In Flow Builder, add a Repeater component in your screen and set a collection of records as the data source for the repeater component, and also decide whether screen flow end users can add new items or remove prepopulated items in your Repeater instance. End users can always remove items that they added manually. Depending on the operations the screen flow end user performed, you can access the following output collections from the repeater component:

Added, include all new items that were added by the end user. Prepopulated items are excluded from this list

All Items, all items of the repeater instance. Both added and prepopulated items are included in this list

Prepopulated Items, all items that was originally set as the data source for this repeater instance

Removed Items, all items that were removed from the items that was originally set as the data source for this repeater instance

Example: Build a flow that will allow managing the account's related contacts

To create the flow with the repeater component:

Create a screen flow Create a recordId input variable in order to get the Id of the account triggering the flow

Add a Get element to get all related to the triggering account contacts

Add a Screen element with repeater component that has the following attributes Set the retrieved contacts as the repeater component data source

Select if users can add new or remove prepopulated items

Add the Name component to the repeater component and set the first and last name to be the retrieved contacts first and last name

Add a Loop element that will iterate All Items collection of the repeater component and will add them in a new-updated temporary collection

Add a Loop element that will iterate Removed Items collection of the repeater component and will add them in a removed temporary collection

Add a Create Records element and configure it to create/update the contacts of the new-updated temporary collection (Update contacts with matching Id)

Add a Delete Records element and configure it to delete the contacts of the removed temporary collection

Disable More Screen Component Fields at Run Time

Action Button, Dependent Picklist, Lookup, Phone, and Slider screen components can now be disabled at run time using the component’s Disabled attribute. Setting component's Disabled attribute to true will block screen flow users from focusing on or modifying any fields in the component. A gray background will appear on the component’s input fields to give users a visual cue

Select Multiple Choices with Choice Lookup Component

Choice Lookup component can be configured now to accept either a single selection or multiple selections (up to 25). Previously, only the Lookup component supported selecting multiple options through a lookup field

How: From the Screen element in Flow Builder, add the Choice Lookup component. For Let Users Select Multiple Options , select Yes. Then, add the relevant choice resources

Example: Build a screen flow that will allow users to assign multiple tasks to various team members

To create the flow with the multiple choices choice lookup component:

Create a screen flow Create a recordId input variable in order to get the Id of the account triggering the flow

Add a Get element to get all related to the triggering account contacts

Add a Screen element with: A choice lookup component that accept the related contacts as choices and set Yes for Let Users Select Multiple Options

A choice lookup component that accept all available tasks as choices and set Yes for Let Users Select Multiple Options

Add two Loop elements that will iterate all selected contacts and all tasks and will create a task for each contact/task combination

Recognize and Differentiate Between Custom Components Instantly in Screen Elements

Custom components now show labels or API names directly on the component in Flow Builder where you add the component to the Screen element. Previously, it was not easy to understanding the role and function of each custom component, especially when the same component have been added more than once
